The Iconic.com Review

If you live in the United States like I do, you probably don’t know a whole lot about Australia. You may have seen a few movies or television shows, but you don’t have any real idea what the people or culture is like. It’s even less likely that you know about many Australian companies.

I used to be in the same boat until I discovered that an Australian company called The Iconic has some of the coolest clothes I’ve seen at pretty reasonable prices. No, the prices aren’t as cheap as some of the Chinese retail sites. I don’t think anyone can compete with their prices. By paying a little more, though, you get better customer service and access to a wider range of fashions for men and women.

The Iconic - Online Shoping Store from Australia

It’s funny to think that I now buy clothes from a company that is literally on the other side of the world. Still, I love The Iconic’s sensibilities. I get great clothes at good prices. And, even if my orders do ship from Australia, it’s a lot easier to order online than it is to get to the mall.

About The Iconic

The Iconic is an online clothing retailer that introduces the world to some of Australia’s best fashions. The company is owned by Zalora Group, which has several fashion retailers based in Asia and Oceania.

The Iconic was founded in 2011, but I just discovered it a couple years ago. Looking in my closet at all of the things I bought between 2001 and then, I wish I had known about The Iconic earlier. I would certainly have a much cooler selection of clothes for work and recreation.

Top Features of The Iconic

The thing I like most about The Iconic is the kind of clothing that it sells. When it comes down to it, that’s what matter most. Well, that and price, I guess.

There are plenty of other features, though, that make The Iconic a good online retail store for people living all over the world. If you’re looking for a new place to shop, consider whether these features sound like positive attributes to you.

Free Returns for 100 Days

I don’t know a whole lot about return policies, but 100 days seems like a pretty long time. That’s over three months to decide whether I like something I bought! Granted, it’s not like you can go around wearing the clothes during that time. Still, I think that this return policy is pretty lenient. It’s especially good when I buy presents for people. If the recipient doesn’t like what I bought (or the clothes don’t fit just right), I can exchange the items easily. Even if I bought the present a couple months ago, I know that I can still get the customer services I need.

Free Shipping

I hate shipping charges. I couldn’t even count the number of times I have cancelled an online order because the shipping was too much. Have you ever purchased a used book online? You can find them for just a few pennies, but then you have to spend four bucks on shipping. No thanks!

Shipping isn’t as terrible when it comes to clothing, but it’s still pretty bad. One of the things that I like about The Iconic is that I never have to worry about paying for the service. Considering that the packages are coming all the way from Australia, there’s no telling how much shipping would cost.

As long as you spend $50 on your order, shipping is free. It’s pretty easy to spend $50 when buying clothes. If your total is a little under, then just add some socks or something else inexpensive. I’d rather give The Iconic my money than some shipping company.

Size Guide

The Iconic - Online Shoping Store from Australia

I’m a tall, thin guy who always has problems finding clothes that fit well. Pants that fit around the waist often look like I have them rolled up to go wading in a stream or something. Pants that are the length always end up huge around the waist. Going to the department store is nothing less than depressing.

This problem often extends to online retail stores. That makes sense. If the brick and mortar store can’t get its sizes right, I guess the online store will have the same issue.

This isn’t a problem with The Iconic, though. It has a useful size guide that lets me know exactly what I am buying. There are plenty of countries that do not use the same sizes that we use in the United States. That usually makes it even harder. Thanks to this handy chart, though, I never accidentally order something that is too small or too large.

Seriously, just not having to stress about sizes makes The Iconic one of my favorite places to shop.

The Iconic Prices

The Iconic has a wide range of clothing and accessories for men and women, so it’s difficult to say what a “typical price” is. I’d say that the prices are pretty similar to what I see at places like The Gap. It’s definitely cheaper than Banana Republic, but not as inexpensive as Old Navy.

Perhaps even more importantly, I think that The Iconic’s clothes are of a higher quality. I used to stay away from Old Navy because I didn’t want my pants and shirts to fall apart within a few months. I opted to spend more money at Banana Republic, which is owned by the same company as Old Navy. Eventually, though, I decided that this upper-level retail stores were just ripping me off. Sure, the clothes felt and looked great, but the stitching was still terribly weak.

Since I started shopping with The Iconic, I find that I have to replace my clothes less often. Even if you spend a little more with The Iconic (which I doubt you will), you quickly make it up.

Criticisms of The Iconic

The Iconic - Online Shoping Store from Australia

Considering that The Iconic is based in Australia, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to learn that shipping can take quite a while. Most of my packages, though, have arrived within a week or so. That’s not terrific, but I don’t think it’s bad, either. I mean, ordering from a place in the U.S. would make the delivery time shorter, sure. But do I really care about waiting a couple extra days for clothes that I will love? No, I do not.

It’s not like you can’t plan ahead to make sure your orders arrive by the time you need them. If you’re going to a wedding this weekend, you probably don’t want to buy your outfit from The Iconic. If you’re going next weekend, though, you will probably be fine.

Just don’t buy anything that you need immediately and you will be fine.

Customer Support for The Iconic

I’m happy to say that I have never had to contact The Iconic’s customer support reps. To me, that is the height of good customer service. If a company can get my order right the first time, then I am happy.

If you do have a problem that needs customer service, then you can contact reps via phone or email. Unless you live near Australia, I wouldn’t recommend calling. I always have a hard time figuring out what time it is in distant time zones. Email is probably easier, anyway. Who wants to wait on hold? I don’t!

Conclusion

The Iconic - Online Shoping Store from Australia

When I first discovered The Iconic, I was excited to see that the online store had such a diverse collection of clothing. I was, however, a little hesitant. Who wouldn’t be? There are so many fly by night websites out there that never even intend to send you the things you buy. You know they just want to take your money and ignore you when you complain.

Since I’m a little paranoid about stores I don’t know, I placed a small order. Just some jeans and a button up shirt. Together, they were probably about $80 or so. I felt like that was a small enough amount that I couldn’t get burned too badly if the company didn’t follow through.

When my order arrived, I was happy to see that the clothes were not only as advertised, but were much nicer than I expected. Since then, I have bought a lot of clothes for myself, my girlfriend, and my parents. The Iconic is a great place to buy gifts!

If you are looking for an affordable company that sells fashionable clothes and accessories, then I would recommend visiting The Iconic’s website. I love their clothes, but you might have a different sense of fashion. My guess is that you will like what you find. Have a good time shopping with The Iconic. You can think me later!
